By JOANNE HART

On my father’s advice, I took out a Personal Contract Purchase Loan (PCP) three times to buy a new car without breaking the bank.

Then the scandal broke and I realized I might have been caught.

I have received unsolicited offers from claims management companies but they seem greedy and aggressive so I only went through the Money Saving Expert website.

I entered the details of my car and financing company, Stellantis. Within a week I discovered that one of my loans involved a discretionary committee. Stellantis promised to contact me again, but I heard nothing.

When requested, an email was sent back saying the case was closed, without any explanation. After trying other avenues within the company, I received a confusing follow-up email, which seemed to suggest I could be updated this week, but also stated that some complaints would not be dealt with until May next year.

It also said: ‘As this is a developing situation, we are referring customers to the Financial Conduct Authority website.’

Not great, but I still won’t use a claims specialist, most of whom receive huge chunks of compensation.
